REBEL FILM FESTIVAL: Where we’re going we don’t need roads anymore (Short Films)
Saturday 29th June | 11:30am (approx. 60 mins)
Modern problems require modern solutions. Or maybe they require ancient ones. We’re not sure, but we do love these shorts that we managed to (very) loosely categorise around the theme of modern concerns. We’re sure you will too, so stop worrying for a minute and kick back.
Saving Blockbuster
Dir. Alexander Ullom
Three film students travel to Bend Oregon in an attempt to "save" the last Blockbuster Video Store in the world. It doesn't go well. At all.
Concrete
Dir. Pirmin Bieri, Aira Joana, Luca Struchan, Nicolas Roth
Troubled by his own reoccurring transformations, a restless backpacker seeks his place in the world. Through a mysterious encounter in a concrete building in the midst of a barren swampland, he hopes to have finally found such a place.
Bottle Boy
Dir. Tony Burke
A lonely young boy learns a harsh lesson in marine ecology after he hatches a plan to find friends by putting a message in a bottle.
Obolus
Dir. Matthew Sterling
Tired and despondent with her everyday life, a young woman succumbs to a new virtual experience.
The Traffic Separating Device
Dir. Johan Palmgren
A traffic separating device is installed in the middle of Stockholm. It is supposed to keep normal cars away and only let buses pass. It turns into a disaster as normal cars continue to go there and hundreds of cars get destroyed every week.
Just Me and You
Dir. Sandrine Brodeur-Desrosiers
8-year-old Eva and her father go on a Montreal-Mexico road trip aboard an 18-wheeler.
