Volunteers are an essential and valued part of our team here at Plymouth Arts Cinema.
If you would like to join our team you will learn new skills, meet new people, be involved with independent cinema, and give something back to the community. Many of our volunteers have progressed to full employment at Plymouth Arts Cinema and other arts institutions in Plymouth and beyond. We give our volunteers a cinema pass as a thank you.
Please see below to find out how you can get involved.
Ushers are responsible for assisting our customers into the films, being present through the film to assist when necessary and being aware of emergency procedures. This is an ideal role for those interested in film and good with people. One of our cinema ushers has been with us for more than 40 years!
Stewards are responsible for welcoming and assisting visitors to our offsite films (mostly Open Air Cinema in the summer), being present through the film to assist when necessary and being aware of emergency evacuation procedures. Other tasks include assisting with car parking, litter picking, and ticket exchange. This is an ideal role for those interested in film/events and good with people.
Writing/ Photography/ Video for Plymouth Arts Cinema Blog
If you are a writer, photographer or film maker who’s passionate about Cinema and interested in contributing to our blog, please contact our Marketing Manager, Charlotte McGuinness firstname.lastname@example.org with an example of your work.
Each volunteer will cover a specific geographical area that will be agreed with them by the marketing team. Even if you can just spare a few minutes each month to take a pile of brochures to your local shop, pub or post office, you will help to spread the word of Plymouth Arts Cinema and be an ambassador for us. Please get in touch with our Marketing Manager, Charlotte McGuinness email@example.com
How to Apply
To register your interest with any of our available opportunities, please complete a volunteer application form and return for the attention of Manon Le Tual.
We are extremely grateful for any interest in helping our organisation, however, it is not always possible to provide opportunities straight away. If you do not hear from us within two weeks of submitting your application, we will keep your application form for 6 months in the event that an opportunity should become available.
If you are in receipt of benefits we recommend that you discuss the volunteer role you wish to carry out with a Job Centre Benefits Advisor or the Department of Work and Pensions before you start your voluntary experience.
For more information about volunteering with us, contact Manon on 01752 206114 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
