IMPORTANT - CHANGE TO FILM START TIME
Evenings are very sunny and cloudless this week so it is much lighter much later than expected. We ran a screen test on Thursday and light levels were still too high at 8.45pm to see the picture on the screen. To ensure optimal viewing experience, the film will now start at around 9.15pm. Doors will still open at 7.15pm.
Dir. Steven Spielberg, US, 2022, 156 mins.
Cast. Ansel Elgort, Rachel Zegler, Rita Moreno.
Steven Spielberg directs this brilliant adaptation of the Broadway musical by Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim.
“This film is probably the most daunting of my career. West Side Story is arguably the greatest score ever written in the theatre, and that’s not lost on any of us. It’s very intimidating to take a masterpiece and make it through different eyes and different sensibilities without compromising the integrity of what is generally considered the greatest music ever written for the theatre. But I believe that great stories should be told over and over again, in part to reflect different perspectives and moments in time into the work.”
