Arguably the best and most popular comedy ever made, Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis star in Billy Wilder’s classic screwball tale of love, cross-dressing Jazz musicians and gangsters.

When slick saxophone player Joe and his long suffering buddy Jerry are forced to go on the run after witnessing the Valentine's Day gangland massacre, they are forced to improvise a quick plan of escape. They decide to disguise themselves as women and join Sweet Sue’s all-girl jazz band on the next train bound for sunny Florida. As Joe falls for Sugar Kane (Monroe), the band's ukulele player, and tries to impress her with stories of wealth and fortune, Jerry finds himself pursued enthusiastically by real a millionaire as things begin to heat up and the mobsters close in. The perfect film in the perfect setting – dress in your finest 20’s spats!

Dir. Billy Wilder, US, 1959, 121 mins.
Cast. Marilyn Monroe, Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis

We have put together a set of FAQs to help you plan your evening.

See you there – enjoy the film!

Q. It’s raining – will the event be going ahead tonight?

Yes it will. Please wrap up warm and wear waterproofs. The weather is actually forecast to clear up so let’s keep our fingers crossed for a dry evening.

Q. Can I get a refund if the weather is bad?
A. The screenings go ahead in all but the most severe weather conditions. No refunds will be given.

Q. Will we be watching the film from the pool?
A. You won’t be swimming while watching the film – sorry! The film will be shown on the concrete sun terrace next to the pool (where they sometimes put deckchairs). The pool will not be open for swimming on the evenings of the events.

Q. When/ where can I collect my tickets?
A. If you selected “Leave my tickets at the box office” for the delivery option: We will have a mini box office on site where you can pick up your tickets on the night of the event, from 8pm. Please bring the booking confirmation email or an ID to collect your tickets.
If you selected the Print at Home delivery option, please print your tickets on A4 paper and present them at the Box Office on site on arrival. Alternatively you may show your PDF tickets on your phone.

You should receive your booking confirmation email first, followed by a second email with your PDF tickets attached. The PDF tickets are usually generated and sent straight away after the booking is confirmed.

Q. Will there be any extra tickets available to purchase on the door?
A. This screening is sold out, we won’t be selling tickets on the door.

Q. Do I need to bring a chair/ blankets?
A. We will provide chairs for everyone at the Tinside screenings, and chairs and blankets for VIPs. It can get chilly in the evenings so please make sure you dress warmly – think woolly hats, jumpers, coats, blankets and waterproofs!
