This year, alongside our usual screenings of world class shorts, we have an exciting festival first as we will be welcoming talented director Jerry J White III, who will be flying in from L.A. to join us for an exclusive Q&A after a screening of his charmingly bittersweet, character led indie feature film, This is Us.
A young woman breaks things off with her boyfriend but finds out the universe has other plans. Desperate to move on, she is forced to literally relive the memories they’ve shared together. Pin-balling through time and space, she attempts to rewrite their shared history in hopes that she can find the man with whom she first fell in love.
We are incredibly excited to share This Is Us with our audience. We fell in love with the film upon first viewing, impressed by the snappy script, sharp direction and the outstanding turns from both leads. The bittersweet sincerity is complimented by enough laughs to make the relationship feel authentic, and give the characters the depth needed to have you rooting for them from the very beginning.
It is an awesome achievement to have perfected the fundamentals of great cinema so well that we think the film should serve as an inspiration to filmmakers looking to take that leap from shorts to features. It also just so happens that the director, Jerry J White III, has very kindly made the trip from L.A. to join us for a Q&A session after the film. It’s definitely one you won’t want to miss out on.
