KARST ARTIST RESIDENCY (KAR 0.1) - MIKE BALLARD

KARST is launching its new Artist Residency Programme in May 2018 with London-based artist Mike Ballard who will be working towards the presentation of a new site-specific work to be exhibited from 24 - 26th May.

As part of his month-long residency Ballard will be giving a talk at Plymouth Arts Centre which will provide further insight into his practice, and open discussion into his ideas and developments during his residency.

Ballard’s practice is inspired by the abstract compositions found in the urban environment, as well as the territorial gestures that divide public and private space. Taking substance from flâneur style wanderings through cities, Ballard weaves together an accumulative and regenerative language of city infrastructure, patterned by materials such as building site hoardings; the remains of illicit advertising and painted pavement markings.
