VENUE CHANGE – Enys Men (15) Open Air Cinema at Tinside Lido

Sunday 13th August

It is with huge regret that we have had to make the difficult decision to move this evening's Open Air Cinema screening of Enys Men to our indoor cinema due to today's weather forecast for heavy rain and wind. The safety and comfort of our customers is of the utmost importance to us. We have been scanning weather forecasts at BBC Weather, the Met Office and Southwest Storm Chasers over the past 24 hours and there is a very high risk of heavy rain and strong gusts of wind which will make the screening dangerous on such an exposed site right at the water's edge.

If you are a ticketholder, please do come along to our cosy (and dry) cinema this evening to see the film, with a complimentary drink. Doors will open at 7.30pm and the film will start at 9.15pm. If you do not attend the screening this evening, we will arrange a refund for you in the next few days.

We have about 20 tickets available to purchase at the door for £15 including a drink, subject to availability, first come first served.

Dir. Mark Jenkin, UK, 2022, 90 mins. Cast. Mary Woodvine, Edward Rowe. John Woodvine.

Is there a more perfect setting for a screening of this atmospheric film, set on a deserted and windswept Island off the coast of Cornwall, than at Tinside where we can look over at Drakes Island. This mind-bending Cornish folk horror tale is gorgeously shot on grainy 16mm.

In 1973 on a remote island off the Cornish coast, a wildlife volunteer's daily observations of a rare flower take a dark turn into the strange and metaphysical, forcing both her (and the audience) to question what is real, and what is a nightmare. Jenkin has created another boldly experimental work set against his native Cornish landscape. An eerie, almost dialogue-free throwback to the British folk horrors of the 1970s and a look at how, when alone, we are at the mercy of our memories, dreams, and fears.

For detailed information about the film's age rating and potential triggering contents, you can visit the BBFC website and search the film title, then scroll down to the “ratings info” section: www.bbfc.co.uk
