Cabaret (15) Open Air Cinema at Tinside Lido

Sunday 4th September 2022

It is with huge regret that we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel Saturday’s Open Air Cinema screening of Grease and Sunday evening’s Open Air Cinema screening of Cabaret.

The safety and comfort of our customers is of the utmost importance to us and we have been scanning weather forecasts at BBC Weather, the Met Office and Southwest Storm Chasers over the past 24 hours. There is a very high risk of heavy rain, thunder storms and strong gusts of wind which will make the screenings dangerous on such an exposed site right at the water’s edge. We have to make a decision early in the day and there is always the risk that having decided to cancel, the weather clears up later in the evening, but we are sure you understand that we have to make a final decision and give everyone enough time to receive the cancellation information.

We have been running OAC events for over ten years and this is the first weekend we have had to cancel a screening. We are extremely disappointed and sorry to have to do this.

We are able to put the screening of Cabaret on in our cosy (and dry) Plymouth Arts Cinema instead so if you are a ticket holder, please check your email for further information.

Unfortunately we cannot schedule a replacement screening for Grease, but again, if you are a ticket holder, please check your email for further information.

Dir. Bob Fosse, US, 1972, 118 mins.

Cast. Liza Minelli, Joel Grey, Michael York.

We thought we would end our summer of cult classics and musicals on a high with the outstandingly brilliant, divinely decadent Cabaret. Released 50 years ago, Bob Fosse's ground-breaking film musical is set against the backdrop of the dying days of Germany's Weimar Republic and the country's growing support for the Nazi Party. Centred around the seedy Kit Kat Club, Liza Minelli is Sally Bowles, singing and falling in love until the party is well and truly over.

Venue: Tinside Lido, Hoe Rd, Plymouth PL1 3DE

Doors open from 7.15pm, film starts from 8.30pm
