Abbas, a high school teacher in the Central African Republic, has fled his war-torn country with his two children. They now live in France, where Abbas works at a food market, while applying for political asylum. Bonnaire, as Abbas’s friend and lover, plays well-meaning Carole with a growing despondency - the daughter of immigrants, she’s still French and white.
