Coronavirus Updates

Update Monday 23 March, 5.15pm

In light of the current guidelines and rapidly evolving situation we have taken the decision to cancel all of our March/April screenings. It isn’t a decision we have taken lightly but we know you will understand our position and our first priority is the safety of our team and customers. Of course we are disappointed, this programme contained some brilliant films and we were so excited to have so many great screen events and talks happening. We will be contacting all customers who have booked tickets for March and April.

The UK cinema landscape is changing and adapting to the situation and many film distributors are delaying release dates and in some cases are moving films straight to pay-per-view platforms which means that some of the films we were going to show may be available to watch at home soon. We are keeping a close eye on everything. We will definitely reschedule some films so you will have a chance to see them on the big screen when we re-open. Who knows, we may be able to show some of them on our Open Air Cinema screen – let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Please keep checking our website and social media pages for the latest updates and know that we value your continued support and can’t wait to be able to say “See you at the flicks” as soon as we possibly can.

It is with real sadness that we have had to take the decision today to shut the cinema for at least the next few weeks. All screenings have been cancelled until further notice. We apologise for the disruption but want to say a huge thank you to our team and customers for the support and understanding. We will be updating information regularly on this page and social media pages so please do keep checking in for the most up to date information.

If you have booked tickets for a screening scheduled between Tuesday 17^th March and Thursday 26^th March:

All screenings are cancelled. You will receive an email from us in the next couple of days detailing the options available to you for returning your tickets.

If you have booked tickets for a screening scheduled on Friday 27^th March or later:

We will review our position on Monday 23 March and update our website with the latest information. If your screening is cancelled, you will receive an email within a few days following the announcement detailing the options available to you for returning your ticket

Contacting Us

These are testing times for everybody, and we are here for our wonderful community of film lovers, just as you are there for us. We especially like to chat about films, but if you need to talk about anything at all, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

From Wednesday 18th March, all our staff members (office and box office) will be working from home in line with the latest government’s recommendations. We will not be able to monitor our Box Office phone line regularly. if you need to get in touch, please email info@plymouthartscinema.org or call our office mobile number on 07514 594 062.

Many of our audience members and partners have also asked how they can help support us, and we are very moved by all the positive messages we have received.

With the cinema and bar closed, we have greatly reduced income and all donations will help us to reopen when we can. We appreciate this is a difficult time for everyone but if you are in a position to help, you can support Plymouth Arts Cinema in these ways:
