The Lion King (U) + Short Film
Culture Connectors Collective: A partnership between Plymouth City Council Youth Justice Service, Fotonow CIC and Plymouth Arts Cinema.
For the past 6 weeks we have been working with a group of young people to make a film from start to finish; devising the plot, storyboarding the shots, filming, animating and editing. The film is a short, animated cats and dogs version of the timeless Romeo and Juliet love-story and we hope you enjoy watching it as much as they enjoyed making it! The group have also been learning about how to programme for a cinema and have chosen this evening's film, everyone's favourite Disney classic, The Lion King.
The Lion King (U)
Dir. Roger Allers, Rob Minkoff, US, 1994, 88 mins. Cast (voices): Matthew Broderick, Jeremy Irons, James Earl Jones.
This Disney animated feature follows the adventures of the young lion Simba (Jonathan Taylor Thomas), the heir of his father, Mufasa (James Earl Jones). Simba's wicked uncle, Scar (Jeremy Irons), plots to usurp Mufasa's throne by luring father and son into a stampede of wildebeests. But Simba escapes, and only Mufasa is killed. Simba returns as an adult (Matthew Broderick) to take back his homeland from Scar with the help of his friends Timon (Nathan Lane) and Pumbaa (Ernie Sabella).
